1984 George Orwell

For my novel I just finished 1984 by George Orwell. For me to offer any sort of spoiler or summary of the novel would be make the experience of reading the novel that less interesting. However, what I can say is the 1984 is one of the few books that has made me think and go beyond the simple literal translation of the text. A novel that portrays the nature of innate human characteristics, effects of propaganda and oppression, 1984 is a great read for those who want to know what "really" happened in 1984.

  1. 1984 kind of seems interesting and then kind of not. The title is very vague, but then again it can say a lot in relation to the story and the story's meaning. It is a good thing that you were able to understand the story beyond a literal level.

  2. 1984 is by far my favorite book of all time. I couldn't put the book down last Spring Break and it just definitely highlights the importance of free will in society. I definitely enjoyed the irony that was intertwined throughout the novel, and I also feel that the ending is fitting for a dystopian novel.

The three phrases that are the slogans for Big Brother, however evil, were invigorated my mind, nearly enlightening. I won't reveal the phrases so I won't cause any spoilers.

All in all, I'm very glad that you read this Kenny; I absolutely love this book.

  3. And now I know why people usually underline book titles. About the 1984 that ended the post, is it 1984 the year or 1984 the book?

If it's 1984 the year then the sentence is somewhat odd, as the the book was published in 1949. That is, it's a novel of what could happen, not what could have been.

If it's 1984 the book on the other hand, it's just funny like how a funny thing is funny, because it's a funny thing. Or droll, rather.

  4. I'm not too sure about 1984, I can't decide if it is an interesting book or not. I have not read it, and know very little about it so I guess I'm not one to judge. By saying that offering a summary of the book would make it "that less interesting.." did you mean that you found the book uninteresting?

  5. I've seen many do reviews on this novel and its 50/50. Some peple say its a boring read while others say its very interesting but you have to be open-minded. I'm not sure if I want to read the novel after all the slight summarys, including yours.
